We received an email from a friend this evening who is in the process of adopting their second child. She told us about their challenges as they waited on their first child. And like most all of us, they had delays. But now that they've got their child, they can't imagine having anyone else as their son.
I've heard a lot of people say the same exact thing. And I know that one day we'll be sharing the same story with someone else who is waiting.

my wife and I really want to adopt . . . we're interested in hearing about any links to great organizations that can help us find a child 2 yrs and younger. we've been slow to be open to adoption; however, after a couple years of disappointment (with a miscarriage) we're finally ready to explore this avenue of parenthood. please help us network.

Posted by: gary at March 21, 2004 10:40 AMHi Gary,
One of the best resources that I've found was Yahoo! Groups. You can search their archives for answers or you can post a specific question and members from the group will respond.
Early on in our adoption journey we joined a group called APC (Adoptive Parents China). They've been a huge resource for us.

Keyword: adoption
You can also check www.adoption.com - they've got a lot of resources.
Hope that helps.

Posted by: :: Mark :: at March 22, 2004 07:41 AMI have to tell ya, the wait for #2 is MUCH worse than the wait for our first child (probably because we've been waiting almost 6 months for a referral this time and last time it was just a few weeks!)
