We're Heading to Charlotte

I talked with the Charlotte CIS office this morning and we scheduled an appointment for next Monday. I also called the Sheriff's Department in Florida to find out how we get a police clearance report of Naomi. Then I rushed to the post office & overnighted the request letter to them. I included a return envelope with overnight postage paid. The person I talked to said they would process our request the day they receive it so we should have it back by Thursday.

The CIS office said that after Naomi does her sworn statement, they will hand us our completed I-171H. That will be the final document in our paper chase.

We will still need to get a few things notarized. Then send everything off to be certified. And then get everything authenticated. But I think those last 3 steps will go pretty quick.

We're getting close!

Mark-
You both may be better off in the long run as they will actually hand you your completed I171H. We, on the other hand, continue to be very interested in the task of getting the mail daily....looking for the golden document (4 weeks since fingerprint appt). Have a great trip!

We had to wait 4 weeks to receive the I171H from the time that BCIS had both our homestudy and fingerprints. So, even though it has taken more effort, it might mean a shorter wait for you! The certifications and authentications came back very quickly for us. It only took 3 days to come back from the Sec. of State and 5 days to receive all the documents back from the Chinese Consulate and we didn't even use a courier!! My advice is to be very nice when writing cover letters and filling out the applications. I don't know if it helped, but I wrote "Thank you very much for your assistance." at the bottom of everything and ours got back much faster than other people's. It's worth a try!
Best wishes and God Bless.....
