A Nice Long Weekend

I'm really looking forward to this weekend. In fact, I'm only working a half day tomorrow and so I'll get an early start to a nice long 3 day weekend. We don't really have any plans to go anywhere.

We might do a little...

car shopping. Yuck. I hate buying cars. But Naomi's car is ready to roll over and die. It's a 1992 Nissan Sentra. Yeah, we usually drive our cars until the wheels fall off.

I was just reading on Clark Howard's site that if you keep your cars for at least 10 years, you will save enough money to retire 5 years earlier. Interesting. Anyway, we're looking at Toyota Camry's, Honda Accord's, and Nissan Altima's. Sorry, but we're not buying into the hype that we have to buy a huge SUV or minivan just because we're going to have a child. :-)

Other than doing a little car shopping I'll probably spend most of my time on the computer. My friend, Mike, & I are about to open up a Web Hosting business. We've been working on it for over a year now. We both work full-time jobs so this has been our side project. We're almost ready to open up for business. This weekend I'll spend a lot of time working on it.

I might try to make it out to the pool once or twice. It's time to get a little sun. It was a brutal winter and my pale skin makes me feel unhealthy. I need some color!

So that's about it. I'm sure it will be a busy weekend for us but I also think I'll have some time to relax. Maybe do a little reading.

How about you? Any plans for the weekend?

Well enjoy your well deserved week-end. Your's sounds like fun. Rich and my week-end will be spent in the woods, camped with family. Predicted weather is somewhat questionable, rain and cooler temps but that leaves more time for reading and chit/chat.
We just purchased a Buick Lasabre and love it. Have fun auto shopping, Love AF

Enjoy the weekend.

you know, the only reason we are planning on getting a van in the next year is the fact that we will be adding a third little one to the family (still hush hush, no blogging about it yet since family stops by there) ... we won't be able to fit all 3 kids, car seats and all, in the regular cars.

for less then 3 kids, in MY openion, you don't need an suv or van. :)

Well, we have experienced all three - car, van and suv with our two boys. I have to say that for our family anyway, the van was probably the most practical. We could tote around their friends, cousins, lots of groceries, bikes, our big dogs whatever we needed to in the back. If we were going to be sticking with just two kids - we'd probably keep the Durango we have now - I LOVE driving it! But, since we too hope to adopt 2 girls - we'll probably go back to a van at some point in the next few years.

This weekend we will have a cookout with my Dad and brothers, swim at my Mom's house, take the boys to karate and probably take a little time out to organize our homeschool paperwork from the past year.

Have a good weekend!
Hey on the car thing.. Clark is in my state :D
I also agree with him. I have owned a Honda van since 1996 and also am having to research. After you look around can you give me an idea of what accords run these days?
Silly as I may sound I am tired of driving the mommy mobile. I have a 8 and 10 year old and drove a Volco statiowagon before this van.
My hubby works a lot and weird hours so I think I can get away with an accord with my 2 plus the new baby :)
I just hate hate car payments so I am hoping accords wont be too much. We drive ours to the wheels fall of too ;)
