Sign Language for Infants & Toddlers

Has anyone taught their infant or toddler sign language?

We recently purchased 3 DVDs from Signing Time - Volume 1 My First Signs, Volume 2 Playtime Signs, and Volume 5 ABC Signs.

We are excited about the idea of teaching Kaylee to sign. Hopefully, one day soon, Kaylee will be able to sign that she wants her bottle instead of crying!

We have been playing the Signing Time DVD's over and over. And we absolutely love them. Rachel, the co-creator and host of the DVD's, is fantastic. I walk around the house singing the songs all the time. And I am already becoming a pro. Haha... In just a few days I have already learned a lot of signs.

Naomi has experience signing. She took ASL as a second language in college. And she's still pretty good.

We will let everyone know how Kaylee progresses with her signs!

Yes, we used sign language with our son, now 11 years old. I loved that he could tell us what he wanted, it clarifies how much they do uderstand, and it is so fun! Jacob used the words More, Eat, Milk...and more that I do not recall. have fun.

Signing Time is great! Mikey loves his signing time videos. We have used sign language because Mikey's speech is slow to come on... he nows signs probably about 200 words and love his signing time videos. I think they are great and for sure teach people a lot of signing.

We used sign language on our 1st and only child, son Gabriel James, and it made a huge difference in his learning to communicate, both visually and orally. He seemed to grasp simple sign gestures very quickly (like the sign for milk-hand opening and closing like milking a cow). It (sign language) seemed reduce his frustrations by quickly informing us want he wanted, let us communicate with him back and forth (long before language skills develop) and helped him learn to speak seemingly quicker than his peers.

Strong recommendation from northern California
