Adoption Blog - 2 Years Old

On October 20th 2003, I started this blog. Below is a copy of the very first post.

--------------------------------------
First Post!
Well, this is the first post for the Adoption Blog. I'm still working on the site a little, but at least I can begin to document our progress as we move forward in our quest to adopt a baby girl from China.

I will use this site to keep our family and friends updated on our progress. And to perhaps even assist those that might be thinking about adopting or those that are going through the journey themselves.

For us the journey has just begun...

--------------------------------------

Wow, time just flys on by. Our journey had a new beginning on January 24th, 2005 - Gotcha Day!

DD: Kaylee
Chinese Name: You Mei Xiang
DOB: April 12th 2004
Province: Hunan
Gotcha Day: January 24, 2005
DTC: June 18th, 2004
Agency: CCAI (Chinese Children Adoption International)

If anyone wants to read about our journey while we were in China, just click on the link titled "Letters from China" in the upper left margin.

I'd like to say thank you to all of the people who have left comments on this site (over 500 of them) over the years. You have helped to make this journey more enjoyable and you have provided helpful information along the way. THANK YOU!

I will continue to post updates on the little Kaylee girl.

What a nice blog! My husband and I just started to seriously look into adoption, although it is something I had always wanted for myself, ever since I was a teenager. We are strongly considering China. I relate to your story and I love seeing the photos of your beautiful girl! Thanks!

Hi Alison,

Thanks for posting a comment. I'm happy to hear that you are considering adoption. And naturally I will encourage you to go to China. :-) But I will also suggest that you do plenty of research and select the country that is right for you and your husband. Did I mention that China is a great place to adopt a baby. :-)

You might want to check out:

www.ChinaAdoptionForums.com

That's a message board site that I run. You can get plenty of information on China adoptions there!

Thanks again for writing and for the kind words. I'll be posting some new pics of Kaylee soon!

Mark: your website is absolutely amazing! We were logged in China on August 19th and it just seems like forever getting a referral. This will be our first child and we are both in our mid 40's so it is quite an exciting time for the two of us. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Hi Iris,

Congratulations!

For most people, the time between getting logged in and the referral is the most difficult. And I know that the days might seem like they're creeping by. But before you know it you will be getting that call. Then things will move so fast your head will spin. Before you know it you'll be touching down in China. You'll look around and realize you are indeed on a journey of a lifetime. Then, a few days later, someone will hand you a baby. Not just any baby. They will hand you -your- baby. It's absolutely awesome! And I applaud you and your husband.

Hang in there, your referral is on the way!
