Greetings from Hong Kong
- January 21st, 2005
Hi,
It is 2:05pm on Saturday here in Hong Kong.
We arrived yesterday
morning. I think we are starting to adjust to the time difference.
It
was snowing when we left Raleigh. They had to de-ice the plane
before we could leave. I received an email from my sister
telling us that about an hour after she dropped us off at
the airport in Raleigh, they had a huge ice storm. She said
the area's road became one giant ice skating rink. Some roads
were backed up to the next county. 3,000 kids spent the night
in school because their parents could not pick them up. If
our flight had been scheduled to leave an hour later, we might
still be in Raleigh.
Tomorrow
we fly to Changsha and the following morning we will get Kaylee.
We skipped a day because we crossed the date line so if you
have a copy of our itinerary, just move everything forward
one day.
We
are about to go for a walk around down town. We will try to
take some pictures.

Aloha Everyone,
It has already been an experience already,
just adjusting the time
change, food change, and water change. I think for me the
big thing has been not being able to eat fresh vegies and
fruits and drink lots of water, especially since this is like
more than half my daily diet. Also, we have to watch that
we don't even open our mouths in the shower or brush our teeth
with tap water. Unfortunately, we forget that we have such
good water purification systems at home. So we have been buying
lots of bottled water ($$$$). Hopefully we will have a larger
hot water heating pot in Changsha, cause the one we have here
is only 8oz.
Anyways, I hope all is well with you guys.
Tonight will probably be
the last night Mark and I have a good night sleep for a little
while,
especially since tomorrow we arrive so late in Changsha and
get Kaylee early the next morning....but we keep looking up
for everything and are happy to finally meet Kaylee for the
very first time.
We are about to take a bottled water and phone
card run...talk to you guys soon.
Me
ke aloha pumehana,
Naomi
